Hello everyone! My name is Vanessa Mari and I am the president of NVTESOL. I have been working very hard to make sure this organization is active and meets the needs of all educators.

I am currently working as an Assistant Professor of TESL at Nevada State College. I teach all of the TESOL required courses for endorsement. Before moving to Henderson, I worked in Peru as an English language fellow. During this time I offered professional development to English teachers and taught English at the University of Piura.

I completed my Ph.D at the University of Texas San Antonio in the department of Bicultural and Bilingual studies. This was a great learning opportunity as I had the privilege of visiting and working with teachers in multiple bilingual schools. I have also worked as an English teacher in Puerto Rico (where I was born and raised!). My past teaching experiences have been very gratifying and that is why I want to collaborate with other educators who are also growing as teachers.

I am looking forward to meeting you all soon!

  • Hello and nice to meet you. My name is Philip Riccobono and I currently teach English language learners at Kobe University in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. I am originally from the U.S., having lived on both coasts. I have had the pleasure of teaching English learners in Thailand, South Korea, and Japan. I completed my Ph.D. at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. My research interests include corpus linguistics, ESP, vocabulary acquisition and MALL. I enjoy sharing my research and presenting at conferences, meeting like-minded educators who seek new approaches to help our learners. My family and I will soon return to Southern Nevada, where I will resume working in CCSD. I have been an active member of Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT), functioning in different capacities as an officer of the Osaka Chapter. I look forward to meeting you! Thank you.
