Inspiring English Learner PK-12 Educator Award
The NVTESOL organization is proud to present the inaugural 2019 Inspiring English Learner PK-12 Educator Award to one teacher in Nevada who has shown exceptional leadership and commitment to quality education for English learners in PK-12.
This award is open to all PK-12 teachers in the state of Nevada who serve ELs. Nominations may be made by school district administrators, colleagues, parents, or faculty. The recipient of this award has demonstrated a commitment to serving English learners and their families through asset-oriented academic language practices (instruction and assessment), the development of meaningful family partnerships, and advocacy for ELs and their families within and outside the boundaries of their schools.

The submissions will be read and scored by the NVTESOL awards selection committee. One nominee will be selected to receive this Inspiring English Learner PK-12 Educator Award and will be honored at the NVTESOL conference on Saturday September 7, 2019.

NVTESOL invites the individual nominating the teacher to the ceremony to present the award alongside the NVTESOL board.
​
NVTESOL aims to recognize teachers for outstanding talent and advocacy for English learners and their families. We recognize the value of acknowledging the great work of our teachers.
​
The following materials must be submitted by the nominee electronically through the portal on the NVTESOL Website by June 1, 2019. Please include in the title the name of the person being nominated.

A copy of the nominee’s resume (1-2 pages).

A one page letter of recommendation as to the nominee’s qualifications as written by the individual making the nomination.

A parent or student recommendation (letter or video) submitted in either the native language or English. If a student video is used, please make sure to upload parent permission with the video. The video will not be used beyond the awards ceremony.
Inspiring English Learner Teacher Educator Award. NSHE Part Time Instructors
The NVTESOL organization is proud to present the inaugural 2019 Inspiring English Learner Teacher Educator Award. This award is open to part time instructors in the Nevada System of Higher Education who prepare teachers to serve English Learners. Nominations may be made by a Dean, colleague, coordinator/department chair, or student. This award is based on the part time instructor’s demonstration of exceptional leadership and commitment in the preparation of teacher candidates to provide high quality instruction for ELs.

The submissions will be read and scored by the NVTESOL awards selection committee. One nominee will be selected to receive the Inspiring English Learner Teacher Educator Award and will be honored at the NVTESOL conference on Saturday September 7, 2019.

NVTESOL invites the nominator to the awards ceremony to present the award alongside the NVTESOL board.
NVTESOL aims to recognize teacher educators for developing talented and committed teachers who will serve English learners and their families. We recognize the tremendous contribution they make on ELs success across the state of Nevada.

The following materials must be submitted by the nominee electronically to portal on the NVTESOL website by June 1, 2019.

· A copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae (5 page maximum)
· A one- to two-page (double-spaced, 12 pt font) summary of the nominee’s teaching philosophy, with an emphasis on what makes him/her successful in preparing teachers to serve ELs. This is written by the nominee.
· A one-page letter of recommendation as to the nominee’s qualifications as written by the person making the nomination.
· A one-page letter of recommendation written by a student or colleague of the part time instructor, different from the person making the nomination.
