About NVTESOL
Nevadans Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (NVTESOL) serves as a statewide hub for educators, researchers, and community stakeholders dedicated to advocating for emergent bilingual students and multilingual education across Nevada.
We empower both new and veteran teachers by providing collaborative spaces to share resources, explore research-to-practice strategies, and design impactful instruction tailored to English Learners (ELs) in K-12, higher education, and adult learning environments.

Statewide Professional Learning: Hosting interactive webinars, in-person workshops, and our annual state conference centered on practical classroom strategies.

Educator Community: Fostering meaningful peer connections through regional networking mixers, virtual "Coffee & Collaborate" sessions, and statewide book studies.

A Brief History
NVTESOL was founded in 2018 under the leadership of Dr. Vanessa Mari, working alongside a dedicated coalition of educational leaders and community stakeholders from Nevada State University, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Clark County School District (CCSD), and organizations across the state.
Recognizing the rapid growth of Nevada's multilingual student population and the need for a unified professional network, these founding members established NVTESOL to bridge higher education, K-12 school districts, and community partners. Since its founding, NVTESOL has grown into an active affiliate of the TESOL International Association, delivering statewide professional learning, advocacy, and collaborative spaces for English language educators throughout Nevada.
